Please bring the following items to every driving lesson:
- Valid Learner Permit: This is your official document that allows you to practice driving.
- Logbook or App: Use this to keep track of your driving hours.
- Water: Staying hydrated is important!
Check Your Local Rules
Each State and Territory in Australia have their own rules for learner drivers. It’s a good idea to check with your local licensing authority for the latest information.
Important Rules
In Australia, it is mandatory for all learner drivers to carry a valid learner permit while driving. Some States/Territories do allow you to have this permit in digital form through a Government mobile app.
If you do not have your learner permit with you when asked by an authorised person, such as a police officer, you will likely be breaching a learner permit condition.
Keep Track of Your Driving Hours
We recommend bringing your logbook with you so the instructor can record the lesson driving hours. You can use a paper logbook or a digital app, depending on local Government rules.
Stay Hydrated
Always bring water to stay hydrated, especially before you drive.
Did you know that a study by Loughborough University in 2015 found that being just 2% to 3% dehydrated can lead to a 20% decrease in concentration? When you're dehydrated, your reaction times can also slow down significantly.
(2015) Dehydrated drivers make the same number of mistakes as drink drivers 20 April 2015. Available at: http://www.lboro.ac.uk/media-centre/press-releases/2015/april/54-dehydrated-drivers.html.
